The most interesting thing about Rome is that many monuments tend to appear out of nowhere. We were surprised to bump into The Trevi Fountain in the middle of ordinary streets, while searching for famously-Italian pizzas, pastas and gelato. Pizza slices, fast-food style (Pizza al Taglio), are rectangular instead of rounded, and the price of the slice is by weight. Pastas in Rome tend towards the saltier side and be prepared to grow in love with the Carbonara, which is egg yolk-based, instead of the common cream-based pasta elsewhere. It was great relief that there wasn't as many people as there were in Paris, making the roam around Rome unexpectedly pleasant. It was also the perfect weather to indulge, in the extremely generous servings of Italian gelato.
